Below is the 2020 Vashon Island Fire and Rescue (VIFR) Annual Community Report; another fun project from my favorite client.
This 9"  x 6" Annual Community Report is 12 pages and addresses the covid response by Fire District 13 as well as  financial and call
volume information.  It is more somber,  serious in nature, the weariness of the pandemic having a real effect on the personnel of the District.  My thanks to Chief Krimmert for his openness to my vision of the text and being so easy to work with.  This project was again beautifully printed by TCC Printing in Seattle, who has unfortunately (for us, but happily for them) been sold and the owners retired.

The 2019  Vashon Island Fire and Rescue (VIFR) Annual Community Report.
The Chief wanted to do something a little different in an attempt to engage the community to a greater degree, and offer more information regarding Vashon's on going emergency safety community and status.  He took the opportunity to include fire safety tips, an updated burn permit, and other valuable nuggets of information.  This ACR is 32 pages with story illustrations by Trevor Stearns and sketches by the Chief himself.  My thanks to Chief Krimmert for the sketches, for his support, allowing me so much creative flexibility and for having such a great sense of humor. A great, fun project again beautifully printed by TCC Printing in Seattle, who were literally boarding up their shop (rioters) as the printing was underway.

It made a great coloring book for house-bound youngsters in the first months of the lockdown.

A fun page of  'ads' for
the Fire District.
Cover of comic book was full color printing.
The inside spreads were printed on a lovely
light gray text weight matte paper.

Much Photoshop work done here as the photo was taken through a glass window with reflections and glares on it.

2018 Annual Community Report:  Chief 's Sketch Book

Here is the 2018 Vashon Island Fire and Rescue (VIFR) Annual Community Report.  This  eight page  7.5" x  7.5" booklet features wonderfully done hand sketches by Chief Krimmert.  My thanks to Chief Krimmert for the sketches and for another fun project, beautifully printed by TCC Printing in Seattle.

Recruitment postcards.  Postcard on the left accompanied the 2018 ACR mailer and was 'dotted' inside before mailing.  The postcard on the right was an alternative, but recruitment personnel  at VIFR used it on the VIFR website and facebook page.  The concepts and writing were mine with technical corrections of course, and a few changes in language.

2017 Annual Community Report:  The Tender

2017Mailer.D1.jpg
Below is the 2017  Vashon Island Fire and Rescue (VIFR) Annual Community Report.  This  three panel 7" x 26" folded mailer is very different from the previous report, but the Chief and I agreed that approaching the annual report with fresh eyes and ideas each year is essential to keep the projects appealing and intriguing.  This year's approach is succinct, colorful, fun, covers all pertinent information as well as including some perks for Vashon homeowners.  Thank you, Chief, for allowing me such creative leniency.  This was a great fun project that gave me the opportunity to illustrate my favorite fire truck:  the huge, lovely, hard to maneuver Tender.   2017 VIFR mailer was beautifully printed by TCC Printing in Seattle.
This year the Chief decided to create a 'stamp' to honor a firefighter or administrative personnel.
He chose a word to describe their essence and I created a stamp to show them in their element.
This first stamp was for Assistant Chief of Operations, Robert Larsen.  The Post Office was
fine with the idea as the post was by Bulk Permit.
Back panel—Chief tasked me with info for brochure back, so I came up with 'How to Use Your Fire Extinguisher' which proved very successful with Island residents.  Fun illustration job using Adobe Illustrator and textures.

Since I have worked quite a bit over the last 20 years for Fire District 13, and especially
for retired Chief Krimmert, everything I wish to share do not fit here, so below are links
